Stakeholder Engagement and Training for Rice Value Chain Actors from Kisumu and Homabay Counties
The Council in partnership with the KOMEX and IFC, recently organized a three-day stakeholder engagement, registration, and training session for rice value chain actors from Kisumu and Homabay Counties.Kisumu county cooperatives that were sensitized include Ahero multipurpose cooperative, Pur Ber cooperative, and Kano plains cooperative society. Homabay counties sensitized include Kimiwa cooperative and Maugo cooperative societies.
The engagement was organised to;
Create awareness of the WRS and KOMEX value proposition among stakeholders.
Ensure rice cooperatives and farmers are registered into the KOMEX platform
Pre-inspect potential warehouses for certification in Kisumu and highlight pottential warehouses to be certified in Homa bay county.
Participate in farmer field days hosted by Ahero irrigation scheme to create awareness about the WRS and KOMEX value proposition.
The event saw participation from various institutions including County Government of Kisumu, Agriculture Finance Corporation, Kenya National Farmers Federation, Kenya Association of Manufacturers, Kenya Investment Authority, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Interior officers.
