WRSC Joins MITI Agencies in Mazingira Day Tree Growing Exercise in Bungoma County
The Council, along with other government agencies under the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry, joined Principal Secretary for Industry, Dr. Juma Mukhwana, in celebrating National Mazingira Day at Chebukaka RC Girls Primary School in Bungoma County. Held under the theme “Citizen-Centric Tree Growing and Environmental Stewardship,” the event highlighted the government’s continued commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
In attendance under MITI were the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA), Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA), Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA), Kenya Development Corporation (KDC), Scrap Metal Council, Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI), Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI), Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS), and the Numerical Machining Complex (NMC). Other participating institutions included Equity Bank, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), East African Portland Cement, Kenya Forest Service (KFS), and the County Government of Bungoma.
A total of 3,500 trees were planted, with an additional 1,500 seedlings distributed to schools across Bungoma County, promoting environmental stewardship among young learners and local communities. This initiative supports President William Ruto’s national goal of growing 15 billion trees by 2032, a transformative agenda aimed at restoring ecosystems, mitigating climate change, and securing a sustainable future for generations to come.
