Warehouse Receipt System Council Participates in the National Tree-Growing Initiative in Nakuru County
The Warehouse Receipt System Council (WRSC) team, led by CEO Lucy Komen, joined a tree-growing exercise at Gacharage in Sirikwa Ward, Kuresoi North, Nakuru County. The activity was led by the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Hon. Felix Koskei, under the Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihood Improvement Programme (MFC-ICLIP).
During the event, the Chief of Staff adopted a 50-hectare site within the Gacharage Forest Block, working closely with local communities to promote collective stewardship in forest restoration. More than 12.5 hectares were planted with tree seedlings — a significant contribution toward the government’s goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032 and expanding Kenya’s forest cover to 30%.
Also in attendance were Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa, Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry; Principal Secretaries Dr. Eng. Festus Ng’eno (Environment and Climate Change) and Gitonga Mugambi (Forestry); Nakuru County Deputy Governor David Kones; and Kuresoi North MP, Hon. Alfred Mutai, among other leaders and community members.
The Warehouse Receipt System Council remains dedicated to advancing environmental sustainability and national climate resilience as part of its broader commitment to building sustainable and inclusive agricultural value chains.
